October 21 – Our Wedding Anniversary

Hello All,

As many of you know, Tuesday, October 21st was our one year wedding anniversary. I met up with several friends at Riverside Park in NY where Mags and I used to eat dinner watching the sunset over the Hudson River. Since we lived just 300 yards from the park we would often prepare dinner, package it up with a bottle of wine, take a leisurely walk to the park, and eat on her picnic blanket. It was a special place for us. One of her last requests was to have some of her ashes sprinkled in the park. It was a day filled with many different emotions.

I was sad that Mags is no longer with us and the hole in my life is enormous. You cannot see it, or touch it, or quantify it. It is not being able to reach out and hold her hand, hug her, or make her smile. This feeling permeated the entire day.

It was also a day of remembering the wonderful times with Mags. I went to the neighborhood early and walked around some. I stopped at one of our favorite bars for a glass of wine, something we often did together. I bought her some yellow roses at the corner Korean store where we used to visit at least once a week; Mags loved her flowers.  I walked by the organic soup/juice place where we visited when we found out that Mags was ill.

The leaves on the trees were in many different shades of autumn colors. It was windier than our wedding day, though the feeling was present. In fact I felt her presence all around me (us) that day which was comforting as well as sad. Sometimes if I close my eyes, stop the noise, and think of her, I can feel her support and love.

Memorial Services – Holy Innocence is having a memorial service on November 10th in Orpington, UK. There will also be a memorial service in Johannesburg South Africa on November 16th. I am happy to say that I will be attending both services. I have posted the details in a separate entry on this blog.

Thank you for being a part of our lives and celebrating Mags’ life.

Lots of Love,

Greg (and Mags)

What a wonderful way to remember your special day. I too believe Mags would have been around you as you visited your favourite places.

Although you only spent such a short time together, i feel sure that many happy memories were made and these will keep you going through the tough times ahead.

I look forward to welcoming you in Orpington.

    Hi Greg,
You do not know me, but I was one of Mags friends from JCE. We did drama together, and enjoyed God together too. Mel, Wayne, Rogan, Mags and I hung out often and us girls shared many of our “boy” stories and the likes. Mags was such a fun loving person, and I have yet to meet someone who smiles so much.
She was so positive, and always brought a giggle to the group. I was very sad to hear of Mags illness in Sept this year when Mel visitted SA. I prayed for you both, really hoping God would miraculously restore such a beautiful soul like Mags. I am truely sorry for your loss, but know she fought the good fight. I can just see her with Jesus, smiling, waiting for you (patiently, cos heaven has no bounds), and being whole in Gods presence. May God bless you with the most beautiful memories, and with the knowledge that many cry with you, but also are very warmed by sharing a part of such an angels life. We will miss you Mags. thanks for bing so precious in a million ways.
    Love Lisa

I would like to write a note to everyone who has written on this blogspot over the last almost year.

Thank YOU. Thank you for echoing the love, joyous and insirational moments of Mags (miss Rivers-Moore).

Thank you all for being a flame of her continued existence. Reading this now despite the months since her passing I can still feel her life, energy and presence now. Not only through my own memories but yours as well.

Let’s keep celebrating Mags. Lifting her up to God, and to the joyous celebration of living – what we know without doubt that she was 100000000% good at (yes that’s a heap more than 100%).

Love and blessings to you all.

    Love Nola

Hi Greg. It was great spending some time with you and just reading this again reminds me of how a big a hole you have in your life. I know none of us understand exactly what you are feeling but we are still here for you in whatever way we can be. All you need do is make your need known.

All our love Craig, Nats, Rheece and Ethan

    Dear Greg,

So sorry I was not with you at the memorial service. I had planned to come. Unfortunately, my Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer on October 15th (the day before my birthday) and underwent a radical mastectomy on November 7th. At 90 years old, this was very traumatic. I was at the hospital every day. She has been doing well since, but this week has been back to the hospital with what may be a relapse. She has had more biopsies and will have a CT and bone scan on Monday. I think of Mags and her attitude and determination and it is inspiring to me.

God Bless. I remember Mags and yourself and the family every night in my prayers….when i don’t fall asleep too quickly!!!!!
